What is GST? (GST Kya Hai?)

Formula Used for GST Calculation
Formula Used for GST Calculation
The mathematical formulas used to calculate GST are given below:
- To Add GST:$$\text{GST Amount} = \frac{\text{Cost of Goods} \times \text{GST Percentage}}{100}$$$$\text{Net Price} = \text{Cost of Goods} + \text{GST Amount}$$
- To Remove GST:$$\text{GST Amount} = \text{Cost of Goods} – \left( \frac{\text{Cost of Goods} \times 100}{100 + \text{GST Percentage}} \right)$$
(Note: In financial terms, when you add GST, the final amount is often called the Gross Price, and the original amount is the Net Price. If you want it to sound even more standard for global users, you can replace “Net Price” with “Gross Price” in the first formula!)
Difference Between CGST, SGST, and IGST
| Tax Type | Full Form | When is it applied? | Who collects it? |
| CGST | Central GST | Within the same state (Intrastate) | Central Government |
| SGST | State GST | Within the same state (Intrastate) | State Government |
| IGST | Integrated GST | Between two different states (Interstate) | Central Government |
💡 Note: Agar aap apne hi state mein saaman bech rahe hain aur GST rate 18% hai, toh 9% CGST central ko jayega aur 9% SGST aapki state government ko milega.
